Avani Kashalikar, Editor-in-Chief

Junior Avani Kashalikar is a third-year journalist and the Editor-in-Chief for The Big Red Hawks. She’s always had an interest in journalism and writing. She first took journalism in her freshmen year and has continued writing as a member of the club. She believes that taking journalism will help her in a writing career, perhaps as a social justice reporter. Besides writing in her free time, she plays field hockey and is the treasurer of the environmental club. Avani has danced since she was six, specifically Bharatnatyam, a major form of Indian classical dance and she has been singing Carnatic vocals since she was four. She has a talent for drawing as well as hand lettering and calligraphy. Avani hopes that journalism will allow her to gain confidence as well as improve both her communication and writing skills.
