HUDSON — Paraprofessional Megan Bardis is beginning her first year at Hudson High School, bringing a passion for working with students and coaching volleyball.
Bardis, who grew up in Sterling, attended Wachusett Regional High School before continuing her education at Worcester State University, where she studied public health.
Although she originally planned to become a physician assistant, Bardis said her interests shifted over time.
“Before I decided on teaching, I wanted to go into health policy,” Bardis said. “I majored in public health to gain a unique background going into physician assistant school, but ended up loving public health as a field in itself.”
In addition to her role as a paraprofessional, Bardis coaches the girls junior varsity volleyball team and occasionally assists with the varsity team.
She said her interest in volleyball began when she joined the sport alongside her sister.
“I only started so my sister wouldn’t have to go alone, but I ended up really loving it,” Bardis said.
Hudson High School Vice Principal Mr. McAnespie said Bardis has already made a strong impression.
“I was impressed by her personal skills and her ability to explain why she enjoys working with student-athletes,” he said. “She has been a great addition to our paraprofessional team.”
During her first year, Bardis said she has found the Hudson community to be welcoming and supportive.
She also said that if she becomes a licensed teacher in the future, she would be interested in teaching science.
Bardis encourages students to stay involved and treat others with kindness.
“Just be nice to people — kindness goes a long way,” she said. “Join as many clubs as possible and have a good attitude.”
