Pumped for Turkey Day Pep Rally

Freshman Melanie is a first-year journalism student at Hudson High School. Although she doesn’t have previous journalism experience, she has been interested in the field her whole life and hopes to one day become a journalist. Her dream is to be on the sidelines covering a sports game, and she’s eager to learn the fundamentals of reporting this year.

Outside of journalism, Person is passionate about sports and plans to attend college after high school. A fun fact about her is that she has three older brothers—one of whom was a 1,000-point basketball scorer at Hudson High. Her favorite music genre is pop.

Freshman Karine Silva is beginning her first year in journalism at Hudson High School. Her interest in the field began while watching a show where one of the main characters became a journalist, inspiring her to take the class and experience what journalism is like.

Karine enjoys following celebrity drama in both Portuguese and English, whether she is in Brazil or the U.S. If given the chance to interview anyone, she would choose Georgina Rodrigues, who she admires for her influence and bold fashion statements.

Outside of journalism, Karine describes herself as a “hot mess” with a love for music. Her favorite genres include funk, sertanejo, pop, and pagode.
