The Algonquin girls varsity hockey team defeated Leominster 5-0 last Saturday, January 10th. After the first period, the Titans had a 1-0 lead after a goal from freshmen Emily Kazmierczak but pulled ahead in the third period with 2 goals from senior captain Maddy Glynn, one of which being shorthanded. Freshmen Kellyn York and AnnaBelle Preciado also added to the final score. Senior Addy Cagan had 15 saves, and her first shutout of the season.
Freshman Melanie is a first-year journalism student at Hudson High School. Although she doesn’t have previous journalism experience, she has been interested in the field her whole life and hopes to one day become a journalist. Her dream is to be on the sidelines covering a sports game, and she’s eager to learn the fundamentals of reporting this year.
Outside of journalism, Person is passionate about sports and plans to attend college after high school. A fun fact about her is that she has three older brothers—one of whom was a 1,000-point basketball scorer at Hudson High. Her favorite music genre is pop.
