HUDSON– The Hudson Police Department (HPD) is working on rolling out its newest tech for the future of Axon body cameras in the Hudson community.
The HPD had been working with Axon and their cameras since 2023, using their latest technology at the time, and is now ready for an upgrade.
The new body cameras allow officers to communicate with citizens in over 50 languages immediately, with a new language translator.
According to the Community Advocate, the body cameras were described as “game-changing” for officers in the field by Hudson Police Chief Richard DiPersio.
According to the Community Advocate, DiPersio stated, “[The body cameras] improves response times, understanding during everyday and critical interactions, and provides a transcript for transparency and review.”
Along with DiPersio, according to the Community Advocate, Patrolman Joe Espie had already used this technology in action and stated, “It’s been a great tool,” for the department.
As of late 2025, the HPD had been hoping to roll out the Axon 3 Body Cameras to officers permanently later this year.
The HPD is excited for the future of their department and improving public safety, community trust, and using their new technology for the betterment of the community.
