William Richards is a new substitute this year. He has been a substitute for three years, working at a school in Wellesley and Keefe Tech in Framingham.
He first went to college at Northeastern where he studied journalism, and then he received his degree in history from Framingham State. He switched from journalism to history because journalists made $25,000 a year when college costs $45,000.
Richards enjoys substituting and was also the JV girls soccer coach during the fall. “The students at this school are very friendly, they listen well and are very hard workers, especially for a substitute,” he says.
As a substitute, sometimes he helps in a foreign language class, which he says is difficult because it is hard to help students with a language that he is unfamiliar with, but he does his best to help the kids and answer questions they have.
Richards hopes to become a history teacher. He says that Hudson High School is so far the best school he has ever worked at. “I feel as if I have had a wonderful experience at this school because the kids are just great here.”
