Hello, my name is Braden, and this is my first movie review. Almost every week for the first semester, I should be uploading a movie review of either a movie that has come out recently, or a movie that I enjoyed.
Audience age/Rating: PG-13 for some intense sequences of violence and action, and some language and sensuality
Genre: Action, Crime, and Drama
Director: Christopher Nolan
Batman returns with the anticipated finale to the Dark Knight trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan, the director of Inception (2010), The Prestige (2006), Memento (2000), and Insomnia (2002). From the 2005 movie Batman Begins, and The Dark Knight in 2008, comes the end of the series.
The story returns eight years later, and Bruce Wayne is a weak, shut in that had been living at home in the Wayne manor. The city has experienced a period of peace, and Batman is thought of as a traitor for his previous actions.
When the masked man, Bane, and his crew of terrorists invade Gotham City and cut the island off from others trying to enter, Batman suits up to restore justice in Gotham City. With the cops stuck in tunnels, the bridges closed, and a bomb that will detonate soon, will Batman really be able to save Gotham this time?
If you are a Batman comic book fan, action, superhero fan, or have enjoyed the past Batman movies, this movie will not disappoint. It has such a unique plot, and there’s lots of action and tough scenarios for Batman.
This is one of the better superhero franchises because Batman is a vulnerable character which makes him more lifelike and realistic. Batman is suffering from emotional problems after he lost someone that was important to him. Batman also suffers physical problems when Bane badly wounds him.
This movie was particularly good because it changed up the villain well. While The Joker was an interesting and gruesome character in The Dark Knight, Bane brings in a unique background story and is a lot different from The Joker and Ra’s Al Ghul, the previous villains from the first two movies. Both Bane and Ra’s Al Ghul are from The League of Shadows, but they have different ways of doing things and going about their plan. Bane may also be thought of as the smartest Batman villain, which makes him more difficult to fight. Bane is a powerful and strong character, and Batman needs to find his weakness if he wants to stand a chance.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt portrays the role of Gotham Police Detective John Blake, who was raised in a boy’s home after his parents pass away. He is a good cop who tries to protect Gotham City from Bane and the other terrorists. Anne Hathaway plays Catwoman who is a thief, but she works with Batman throughout the movie.
From the plot twists, and the dramatic and emotional ending, this movie will keep you engaged and wanting to figure out how it all ends! Batman moves on from his past and tries to help Gotham when it is in need. So grab some popcorn and drinks and get a good spot in the theater because this is one you will not want to miss!
