Hour Game
David Baldacci
Rating: 4/4
Baldacci created mass hysteria with the gruesome murders and a sinister copycat killer in his novel. A killer with no remorse and the mind of a genius is inflicting fear into a small town. The first kill mimicked the infamous Zodiac killer; the girl was found abandoned in the woods. Everyone thought the Zodiac killer was back, but the murderer continues his killing spree by using the same methods of all the famous serial killers that ever lived.
Two ex-Secret Service agents, Sean King and Michelle Maxwell, are hired to protect the innocence of a man suspected to have broken into the home of a wealthy family. However, the true reason they are hired is to track down the killer, but then they find themselves in the middle of the manhunt.
Both Michelle and Sean are exceptionally brave and stood out among the other Secret Service agents, willing to put their lives on the line. They harbor feelings for each other, but have trouble expressing it. This causes them to be the best of partners and the best of friends and continue to back each other up. It increased the appeal of the book. Whenever each of them were in danger, the situation was even tenser than it is in other novels.
The rich family that hired the private investigators was completely dysfunctional. Every member had a reason for killing each other, and it made it even harder for the duo to solve the murders. It was much like many of the families in real life torn apart by money.
The killer kept the readers on their toes and made the novel incredibly fasted paced. The serial killer continued to taunt the individuals. At many of the points, the murderer looks like they aren’t going to get caught and then they do something even bolder, leading Sean and Michelle on their trail.
I want anyone reading this article to read this book. It was sophisticated and intelligent. Prepare to get your mind blown by this awesome mystery. David Baldacci has outdone himself by thinking of something so incredible as this.
