This week in Liz’s Flick Picks, I am going to talk about a film that should be seen by couples and friends.
One day follows the relationship of Emma and Dexter, two friends that graduated together on July 15, 1988. They continue to run into each other throughout the years on the same date, July 15. They struggle to keep their friendship alive, and soon they find their way back to each other.
From the start Emma and Dexter are different people with great chemistry. Emma tries really hard to fulfill her dreams as a writer. She has to have a set of rules and everything has to go exactly as planned. Dexter, on the other hand, has always had everything handed to him. In his early days, he was a TV host and was well known throughout England. He lives a carefree life unlike his friend Emma.
I didn’t like the ending. Emma and Dexter went through a lot on July 15. I don’t want to give anything away, but towards the end it kept going back and forth from 2011 to 1988. I just thought maybe the part back in 1988 should have been shown in the beginning, and the film should have ended with the 2011 scene.
Overall it was an interesting love story. But I would have loved to see what else was going on besides what happened on July 15. It is a good romantic movie to see with people you love, and there are moments that you didn’t see coming that will make you laugh or cry.
