National Let’s Laugh Day, today on March 19, is possibly one of the most forgettable holidays ever. That’s probably because it’s never advertised.
Whether you celebrate National Let’s Laugh Day or not, most students agree that jokes keep them going during the week, and if you’re in 8th and 10th grade this year you’ll especially need jokes since the following week after Let’s Laugh Day is ELA MCAS!
Let’s Laugh Day was created to remind us that we need joy in our daily lives; that not everything has to be boring and gloomy. It’s never the best option to be serious all the time, we all need and deserve funny and exciting moments in life instead of the bleak moments some may have especially since laughter is known as the best medicine, laughter is able to relieve stress and anxiety.
And since laughter is the best medicine, I thought I’d share a couple of jokes as well as talk about the importance of laughing.
What did one toilet say to another?
You look flushed.
Jokes like these help students laugh which helps students bond with each other during a rough day or rough week. Jokes can help everybody by both boosting your physical and emotional health and that’s no joke!
Laughter can relax and calm the muscles for up to 45 minutes which helps to relieve stress.
“Who else loves their immune system? Antibody, Antibody else??” said sophomore Mathew Bruce.
Talking about the immune system, laughing at jokes greatly helps your immune system by decreasing stress hormones and releasing endorphins that give you a sense of well-being as well as previously stated before, relieves stress.
As well as the many physical and mental benefits there are also social benefits; laughing can strengthen relationships, attract others towards us, help us enhance teamwork, it can settle down problems, and promote group bonding. Since laughing can cause group bonding, this Let’s Laugh Day you can use that to your advantage to prepare for the MCAS by studying with others or you can forget Let’s Laugh Day is an actual holiday, you choose.
