Girls Hockey: This was the most successful team this winter for Hudson sports. The team was lead by goaltender and captain Sasha Barry. This season’s success was unexpected, but that did not stop them as they went into playoffs as the 19th seed in the state. Some of the players who stepped up this season and helped the team win include Algonquin’s Nicolette San Clemente(captain) and Paige Fournier, Marlboro’s Julia Valianti and Hudson’s Kayla Currin, an eighth grader. This year’s squad is losing five seniors, including both captains but will be picking up a talented eighth grade class for next season.
Boy’s Hockey: This year was a rebuilding year for the team. Freshman players Drew Jackson stepped up as a goal scorer and Adam Devlin showed some talent and potential in front of the net. The team is very young, despite having six seniors, but they have the potential to succeed in upcoming years. This season could have been better as the team missed playoffs by a significant margin and didn’t win games they should have or could have won. The team lacked depth and intensity and just couldn’t catch a break.
Girls Track: Sixth place in districts and four new school records this year for the girls track team. The team had four seniors and a lot of talented eighth and ninth graders. The team is going to keep learning and rebuilding next season as they get more experienced. The team is going to need to replace hurdler Nicole Mooar, who is going to Merrimack next year on a track scholarship.
Boys Track: They had a new coach this year which made the beginning of the season confusing for them, but they overcame the obstacle and were led this season by Giuseppe Caputo, Andrew Doherty-Monroe, Jacx Cannistraro, Chris Laflamme and Sam Engvall.
Boys Wrestling: Not a bad season for the team, but they lacked depth and experience. They are only losing one senior this year, so next year they are only going to grow and get better. This year injuries struck Juan Zabulu(knee) and Evan Montanez(concussion), so they will be back on the mat next season. Richie Fonseca really stepped up this season, and Nick Robinson led the team.
