Algonquin Defeats Hudson’s JV Girls Soccer Team
Algonquin’s speed helped them to dominate Hudson’s JV girl’s soccer team 7-0 on September 25. Algonquin was ruthless with the scoring.
Algonquin scored about 10 minutes into the game on Hudson’s goalie Nicole Ineson. She almost had the save but it went off her hands and into the net.
Then a corner kick helped Algonquin score another goal. Within15 minutes of the game the score was 4-0.
”Our goalie did really good. The goals scored were impossible to save,” says defensive player Nicole Miller.
“Defense helped our goalie, but Algonquin was really fast and beat us to the ball most of the time,” said Miller.
In hopes of improving the game, Hudson’s coach Scott Duplisea had the team try out a new set up on the field “which put us at a disadvantage,” said Miller. The new set up involved one striker, three defensive midfield and three offensive midfield.
“This set up was something we have never used before, and we need to get used to having roughly six midfield players,” said midfield player Rachel Carco.
Even though Hudson had a loss, the best play of the game was “when we were able to move the ball into Algonquin’s half because that means our passing was good,” Carco said.
Hudson isn’t going to let one bad game stop them. “Next game we will do pretty well as long as we stay focused and keep our heads in the game, “said Carco.
