Chelsea Gagnon is a self proclaimed hipster. She shops three times a month in stores like Forever 21 and Root 21. Her favorite designers include Versace and the late Alexander McQueen. “I love Avant Garde fashion. It’s just too expensive to wear, so I settle for stores like Forever 21,”Chelsea joked.
She has a fascination for surreal art, though she doesn’t believe that’s reflected in her outfits, “I don’t think I dress very surreal. Surreal art is something that can never happen in real life, like people with trees for heads. As long as my body looks like something artsy, then things just kind of flow.”
Chelsea adores art, but fashion isn’t number one on her to-do list. “I think my style really well expresses who I am as a person, but I don’t think fashion is my main priority.”
All she looks for in an outfit is that “it shows off the few curves I have.” She favors simple colors and trendy things like lace and leather. “I recently got into vintage lace, and I really like earth tones like browns, whites, creams and purples.”
Although she doesn’t plan on working with fashion, she believes her clothes will always exemplify who she is. “Dressing nicely is very important, it says so much about how you perceive yourself; whether you believe you’re a confident beauty or a shy dork. What we wear is a reflection of what’s inside, at least most of the time.”
