Sophomore starting point guard Kaylee Cummings
Q: How long have you been playing basketball, and who got you into basketball?
A: I have been playing since I was six. My parents put me on a team when I was very young.
Q: What do you love most about basketball?
A: I love that when I play basketball I don’t think about anything else, and I love the sport itself.
Q: What has been a great accomplishment for you in high school basketball?
A: Making Varsity my freshman year was definitely a great accomplishment, and being the starting point guard this year is awesome.
Q: What has been a challenge this basketball season?
A: Our team changed leagues so it has been difficult to adjust. It is hard not knowing what to expect from the other teams we play.
Q: What do you do to get ready for a game?
A: I get my hair braided, which is a pre-game ritual that I have been doing for a while.
Q: What can you tell me about the high school team this year?
A: I think that our record doesn’t show how good we really are. We are a good team, and we bond really well.
Q: What is the difference between high school basketball and AAU basketball?
A: In high school I play with the girls from my town and school, but at AAU I get to play with girls from different surrounding towns and schools.
Q: What do you do to improve?
A: I want to keep my spot on the team as the starting point guard. So to improve I work as hard as I can at practice because I want to get better and be the best I can be.
