Freshman Ryan Leahy, a member of our school’s Business Professionals of America, entered a national contest, “The Virtual Multimedia Promotion for Business Professionals of America,” in February. Leahy decided to make a video about the Special Olympics for this contest. He sent in his video on March 1 and found out on May 2 that he had won third place. Principal Reagan congratulated him and presented his award. In this interview, Leahy explains how he created his award-winning piece.
Q: How long did it take to complete?
A: It took about a month to finish, a lot of work mostly over February vacation.
Q: What inspired you to do this project?
A: BPA, my teacher Mrs. Williamson asked if I wanted to do this although I had no idea what I had in store for me.
Q: How much time did you put in this project?
A: I put about 10-15 hours of work into this project.
Q: Was this all by yourself or did you receive any sort of help?
A: It was all done by myself.
Q: Where did you work on this project?
A: I spent most of my time on my Mac at home.
Q: Was getting this award a goal you hoped to achieve?
A: I honestly didn’t expect to win, but I guess luck was on my side.
Q: Was this a difficult task to complete?
A: Not really; I put my time into it, and I completed it with no problems.
Q: Are there any other awards/achievements you are hoping to accomplish?
A: The next thing I want to experience is college and then get the best job I ever wanted and that is being a lawyer.
