Dr. Lauren Pupecki officially began her role this summer as principal of Hudson High School, following her April 15 appointment by Superintendent Brian Reagan.

Pupecki, who previously served as the district’s director of school counseling, was chosen from a pool of 35 applicants. Her student-centered approach, strong communication skills and deep commitment to Hudson High stood out during the selection process.

“I’m here for the students,” Pupecki said. “Whether it’s a quick hello or a deeper conversation, I want every student to know they matter and that I’m always in their corner,” she said.

Why She Became a Principal

Pupecki said she has always wanted to be an educator, inspired in part by her own high school experience. Her junior-year English teacher and her basketball coach, who was also a teacher, pushed her to be her best and helped her believe in herself.

“That’s what I want to do for students now,” she said. “I want to be someone who believes in you and helps you become the best version of yourself.”

Her First-Year Focus

As a first-year principal, Pupecki is developing an entry plan that includes surveying students, staff and families about what’s going well at the school and what could improve. She’s reading each survey response and meeting individually with teachers and staff.

She also plans to hold summer listening sessions with community members before finalizing her top goals for the 2025-26 school year.

Building Connections with Students

Getting to know students is a top priority for Pupecki.

“I like knowing students by name,” she said. “I want to know what you’re interested in and what matters to you.”

Her goal is for every student to feel they belong and are involved in something at school — whether it’s sports, clubs, music or another activity.

Leadership Style

Pupecki describes her leadership style as student-centered, fair, honest and consistent.

“I make thoughtful, student-centered decisions and always try to do what’s best for students, staff and the school community,” she said. “If I say I’m going to do something, I follow through.”

Outside of School

In her free time, Pupecki enjoys spending time with her family, being active, going to the beach and running or working out to relax after a busy day. She also enjoys traveling and exploring new places.

Earlier this year, she visited Barcelona, Spain, with her son and one of her daughters, where they toured the Sagrada Familia, a world-famous basilica.

Pupecki said she is excited to lead Hudson High and support students in achieving academic and personal success.
