For the first time since 1991, the Varsity Football Team won the State Championship against Fairhaven at Gillette Stadium, with a final score of 21-14.
The team had not touched Gillette turf since a loss at the 2011 State Championship, so a victory was long overdue. Now, they entered the field again as the No. 1 seed in Division 6, with Fairhaven behind them as the No. 3 seed at 10-2.
The Hawks finished their impressive 2024 season with a 13-0 record, coming off a 9-3 record last year. The boys had not been defeated since last season, losing in the Final Four game to Fairhaven.
With rain and light snow falling on that Wednesday (12/4) night, the game was neck and neck, with multiple injuries on each team. Following touchdowns by Captain Jake Attaway (8) and Tobias Edie (20), the win was secured by Savion Newton-Clark (2), thanks to a pass from sophomore backup quarterback Logan Dome (36), who stepped in after Attaway was injured in the second quarter.
