March is “National Music and Theatre in Our Schools” month and this year, Hudson High School will get the unique chance to see the impact performing arts has on a student’s future.
On March 19, Hudson High School’s student a cappella group Camerata will be performing with Northeastern University’s group, the Nor’easters. Although the two groups have never performed together, there is one vocalist who has performed with both groups.
Brian Leon graduated from Hudson High School in 2010 and is now a freshman and psychology major at Northeastern. While attending HHS, Brian participated in Camerata; he now performs with the Nor’easters.
Leon credits Hudson High School’s program for influencing him to continue performing post-high school.
“Without Camerata, or the choral program for that matter, I never would have strongly considered auditioning for an a cappella group in college, but since I’ve become part of the Nor’easters, it has been the single best part of my college experience by far.”
The Nor’easters are quarter finals champions of the International Championship of Collegiate competition. Leon hopes that the Nor’easter’s visit will help inspire more students to participate in choral and other performing arts programs.
