After the turkey, gravy, and mashed potatoes are all gobbled up and all the thankful attitudes fade away a black cloud comes over people in the wee hours of the night. Tis the season to be jolly? Yeah.. right. I have been to the opening of Target and waited in line for 4 hours to get a brand new TV that was on sale. When the doors opened I was pushed, kicked, and yelled at for not moving fast enough.
When I reached my destination I glanced around and saw people ripping toys out of each other’s hands and people making rude comments to one another. “HEY! GIVE ME THAT!” “THAT’S MINE” echoed throughout the store.
Adults were running up and down the aisles like children in a candy store scrounging to get the best deals. When I was a little girl it wasn’t about how much someone spent on me, it was about going to Grandma’s and having a family dinner together. It is not like that anymore. I would be happy if I just got a teddy bear. It didn’t have to be the new IPhone or the XBOX 360. Sometimes people do get caught up in what’s the most popular item.
Americans need to get their priorities straight and focus on the thought not the price.
