During the week of October 14, the Hudson High Drama Society put on a production of You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown. The show starred Vinny Bonina as Charlie, Linette Davis as Snoopy, Laura Girard as Lucy Van Pelt, and Edward Andrews as Linus. Other familiar characters were present as well: Jack Colaianni as Schroeder and Carly Usherwood as Sally Brown.
The show consisted of many musical numbers, kicked off by “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown,” performed by the whole cast. Some of the more memorable numbers were “My Blanket and Me,” performed by Ed Andrews, “Suppertime,” performed by Linette Davis, and the closing number, “Happiness,” also performed by the entire cast.
The show follows Charlie and his friends through school, little league baseball, Valentine’s Day, Beethoven’s birthday, and much more. The characters write book reports on Peter Rabbit, rehearse for their glee club, and learn many new things.
The show took place in the mini theater, and cast members also took many trips through the audience.
“Performing in the mini theater was a good experience because we had a close relationship with our audience, but it was also unnerving,” said cast member Corinne Catanzaro, who played Peppermint Patty.
The play was directed by Ms. Kathleen McKenzie, and Stan Hanson accompanied all numbers on the piano.
“I definitely had fun. Everybody had fun. We were a close cast and it’s safe to say that we’re all pretty proud of our hard work,” said Ed Andrews in regards to their performances.
The production was funny, entertaining, thought-provoking, and was done very well. If you missed this show, catch the Drama Society’s next performances, The Tempest, November 17-19, and Alice: Tales of A Curious Girl, December 18 and 19.
